I convinced my parents to come with Gio & I to see my prints up at the Almost Holden gallery in Santa Monica last week..and also to Canter's, which was my mother's traditional post-punk-show Jewish deli meal when she was a teenager. My other art pieces are here: Lisa Mathis Art

I was wearing:

50s plaid taffeta skirt (also Villains)
souvenir Mexico burro pin (Shine Gallery at Fairfax Farmers Market)
late-30s sunglasses (Rose Bowl Swapmeet)

some girls have all the good stuff

I've been falling in love with the 30s lately..which I need to get over because it's only a few more months after I get an interest that I start thinking I need to wear original 30s dresses and lord-of-budgeting knows I ca't afford that once we move. But look how cool this girl was, she made the Depression look good, and so can all of us poor gals.

The Other Day in Rockridge...

On the campus of art school last week.

I'm wearing:

Biba and Lips

The mid-60s are what made me fall in love with vintage; I love the frivolity and playfulness.

Big Sur, New Hat

My husband Gio and I are making the move from southern California to the San Francisco Bay area in two and a half weeks, we've got ourselves signed away on an apartment lease and are ready to go (car willing, that is). After our apartment-searching trip I convinced Gio to drive down the coast through Big Sur, because it's the most gorgeous place you'll ever be; I thought it was great but the damn car didn't take the winding coast highway too well.. Anyway here are pictures Gio took of me in my mod-Amish look.

I'm wearing:
  • black late-60s hat (from Black Cat Vintage Collective, San Jose CA)
  • early 60s gray wool jumper dress with matching belt (from Villains Vintage Clothing, Orange CA)
  • black 60s/70s polyester turtleneck shirt (also from Villains)
  • original 80s Morrissey button
  • (not pictured) 60s saddle shoes

My name, by the way, is Lisa - art student & owner/director/model/photographer/buyer/seller/shipping dept/customer service of soon-to-be eBay store
